Hello there.

Hey, I’m Matt. I’m the VP of Design at InvoiceCloud, and I have over twenty years’ experience in building SaaS products. I’ve built things that have failed and almost tanked the company, and I’ve built things that have immediately gotten attention and won deals. I’ve built multidisciplinary teams, shaped and re-shaped roles, and gotten stakeholders not only to care about good design, but demand it.

But design leadership is a strange job. You often don’t have direct peers, and you’re not only running a team but constantly pushing for things like user research, accessibility and design system adoption…all while engineering wants to ship everything yesterday.

I started this blog to use my learnings over the years to share where I think things are going, and help others avoid some scars as they build their teams and walk similar paths.

At the very least, I want to have a little fun.
